WHAT IS FLASHBACKS?

Flashbacks is a portrait and school photography studio. Our product lines and services include portraits of high school seniors (in the studio and on campus), high school dance photography and underclass photography. We also carry a line of frames, Christmas cards and invitations. In addition to photography, we operate a full time art department and lab that prints in sizes ranging from wallets to 11 x 14’s. A complete video prodution department shoots and edits High Definition Video delivered on DVD for Proms and winter formals. We also conduct business to business photographic services with other studios in our dance and underclass departments.

Our organization is a group of people working together as a team, dedicated to producing the finest product for our clients. Our success is contingent on our employees; bright, talented people who work well together towards our common goal. Our growth over the years is the result of the combined efforts of these people. OUR HISTORY
|
|
Flashbacks began in 1985 as a senior portrait studio founded jointly by owners Bill Berlin, a former teacher and yearbook company representative, and Lynda Heuschkel, a former yearbook adviser and current graphic artist. The original purpose of the studio was to photograph students for the yearbook and to offer a full range of senior portrait options.
In May 1986, Flashbacks opened its first studio in the Waterfront Warehouse. During the first two years the studio specialized in senior portraits, glamour, boudoir, and dance photography and employed five full time employees.
Flashbacks experienced rapid growth in 1987, both in senior portraits and dance photography. This growth continues to this day, so much so that in December of 1989, Flashbacks moved to its present home, a 5700 square foot building just off Stockton’s Miracle Mile. Led by the talents and skills of Lynda Heuschkel, we created the Central Valley's finest portrait studio and shooting room with production facilities downstairs and executive offices upstairs.
Believing that good technology will deliver a superior product in less time, Flashbacks is constantly upgrading its equipment, In the spring of 1997 we spent nearly one half million dollars on a new film processor and photo print machine. All dances, proofs, senior portraits, graduations as well as over one third of the undergraduate photography was printed in house. We also added a top of the line, full color photocopying system that is networked to our computer system. This allows us to efficiently produce photo grade color printouts from desktop publishing software. By having these resources in-house, we are now able to design, create and produce products under the direct control of our staff, insuring Flashbacks’ standard of quality.
Now, we have replaced and converted our studio into a complete and fully digital photography studio with digital cameras, video and a digital lab.

SENIOR PORTRAITS
|
|
We offer a full service studio to high school seniors and supply yearbook staffs with the necessary support for a successful publication. We provide attire (cap and gowns, tuxedos, drapes, furs), a variety of backdrops and props as well as a selection of locations, indoor and outdoor, in accordance to the school's specifications and the Senior's wishes. We sell a wide range of portrait packages and frames, most of which are produced on the premises. In Flashbacks' first senior season, we photographed 1000 seniors from five local high schools. We presently service 16 schools and over 4000 Seniors, in an area reaching from Ceres to Sacramento.

DANCES
|
|
Dance photography is another part of our business in which we excel. Our ability to supply the products you want, such as Memory Books, Photo Key Chains, custom designed backdrops, posters and invitations and the quality of our service is unprecedented. Spring is always a busy season for us photographing over 40 Proms and Formal Dances throughout the Northern Central Valley.

UNDERCLASS PORTRAITS
|
|
At the beginning of each school year, we set up studio equipment on campus and photograph each student. Some buy packages, but all get service items as defined by the school. These can range from Identification Cards and Off-Campus Passes to Visual Directories and Renaissance Cards.

GRADUATIONS
|
|
In the spring of 1995, Flashbacks introduced the Grad Pack for high school and middle school graduation ceremonies. The Grad Pack consists of photo thank you cards, 5 x 7 pictures and a custom Memory Book with the picture of the grad receiving their diploma on the cover. That year the company photographed three graduations. Now Flashbacks photographs nearly every graduation for contracted schools

FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND PETS
|
|
In addition to school photography, Flashbacks continues to provide quality portraits for children, families and pets. While these services may not be major factors in the Flashbacks overall profitability, we must continue providing them to the community to maintain our reputation as a first rate, full service photography studio.

THE FUTURE
|
|
In 2007 Flashbacks photography will focus on school dance photography. They will encourage schools to contract Flashbacks as their main school dance photographer. Flashbacks is the only photography company who offers dance DVD's with high definition motion video. The videos are edited professionally including effects and sound. The DVD's also contain slideshows of couples and candids set to music. Packages are affordable, containing photos, memory books and a dance DVD. Students will also be able to build their own packages from the various products we offer.
